Pub Washers

$119.00

in the tailgate lot – Washoes – just got a facelift. Literally. This mutation of the ever-popular Horseshoes is perfect for parking lots where horseshoes and sandpits can be a little tough to come by. Just in case you’ve been  napping in your truckbed, the game generally involves a carpeted wooden board with three evenly spaced apart holes into which players try to pitch metal washers to score 5, 3, or 1 point, depending on the location of the hole. In tailgate lots, it is usually played with two boards placed on the ground, 10 feet apart and facing each other. Players take turns tossing into the opposing boards.

It’s one of those games that’s perfect for passing the time while talking with friends and, of course, enjoying a cold one. However, one of the great risks that tailgaters run when playing traditional Washoes is the inadvertent dumping of the beer when you bend over to retrieve your  washers. (Don’t act like it’s never happened to you!). Enter PubWashers, the next evolution of Washoes which brings the game to a whole newlevel – and avoids that most disgraceful of party fouls. Leave it to the guys who hang out in pubs to solve this problem. After all, they’ve got much more beer at stake when they’re playing while holding a tall, frosty mug of ale! And retired Huntington Beach fire chief Mick Terich has spent his share of time in pubs. As the inventor of PubWashers, Mick has created a more portable, table top version of the game that can be played on your folding table or even adjustable height tables from Lifetime Products to be the perfect, portable accompaniment.) It only requires one box to play, and it has a trough around the carpeted platform to help catch those runaway washers and keep you from having to crawl under a car.

Mick even sells an accessory pack that includes a telescoping magnetic wand to retrieve the washers from the holes, or under a tire. Though, some guys might argue that they would miss watching the girls having to pick up after their bad shots. At around $150, they may sound a bit spendy. But this is beautifully constructed, solid, sturdy craftsmanship that’s going to last you through many seasons of fun. Heck, it’s even nice enough to have on display in your house! Watch for PubWashers to follow up their Super ‘Gate tailgate debut with an appearance in the Daytona infield and check them out at PubWashers.com.
